On 22 July 2019, Cheng Yuan, Liu Yongze and Xiao Wu, all of whom are members of the public interest law NGO, Changsha Funeng, have been incommunicado.The three are being held by the state security police in Hunan’s provincial capital Changsha on suspicion of “subversion of state power,” according to a lawyer connected with the case.
China: Police Target Anti-Triad Protesters in Hong Kong With Tear Gas, Rubber Bullets, Pepper Spray

On 27 July 2019, several protesters in Hong Kong who were demanding action against suspected triad gangs who beat up pro-democracy demonstrators last weekend, had tear gas and rubber bullets fired against them by authorities.
On 18 July 2019, Vice President Leni Robredo and several other human rights defenders, had a complaint filed against them alleging incitement to sedition.
On 19 July 2019, Hun Sokha and Keo Rattana, the publishers of Facebook-based CPNTV and TN TV Online, respectively, were arrested after livestreaming 20 families block a company’s heavy machinery from clearing disputed land.
China: Hong Kong protesters beaten

On 21 July 2019, approximately 40 protesters were violently beaten by a group who were targeting unarmed passers-by wearing black, whom they believed to be anti-extradition protesters who were on their way home.
