On 8 July 2010, at around 4:00am, Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun, researcher at the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun and a friend were riding a motorcycle in Kalibata, South Jakarta when a silver Toyota Avanza and two motorcycles blocked his path. Four assailants then attacked Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun by stabbing him with a sharp metal object and beating him at the head until he almost lost consciousness. Mr. Langkun was rushed to a hospital due to severe injuries he suffered. Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun works in the Research and investigation Division of the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW). The brutal attack against him is believed to be connected with his work at the ICW. Mr. Langkun is one of ICW members who have been voicing concerns over the enormous wealth of a number of high-ranking police officers. The assault came just two days after unidentified people tossed Molotov cocktails at Tempo magazine office in Central Jakarta. Last week edition of the weekly ran a cover story on seven police officers who allegedly amassed billions of rupiah in their bank accounts.
