Thai military officers detained a political activist who alleged the junta leader and Deputy Prime Minister of cronyism for an "attitude adjustment' session. The military officers on Thursday at 5:13 pm paid a visit to Srisuwan Janya, the Secretary-General of the Thai Constitution Protection Association before bringing him to the First Army Region Headquarter on Ratchadamnoen Rd., in central Bangkok. Matichon Online reported at 6 pm on Thursday that according to the news sources from the First Army Region the political activist was taken into the military barrack for a discussion in order to "create more understanding' between the him and the junta's National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). The military source mentioned that the discussion would be brief and that Srisuwan would not be held overnight, Matichon reported. Earlier on Tuesday, Srisuwan submitted a petition to the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand, asking for an investigation of the conduct of Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the junta leader and Prime Minister, including, Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krue-ngam for appointing their close relatives and associates into the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA). Srisuwan alleged that out of the 200 NRSA members appointed by the junta leader on 5 October, 77 or almost 40 per cent were serving or former military and police officers. He also accused the Deputy PM of cronyism as Air Vice Marshal Chalermphon Krue-ngam and Dusit Krue-ngam are also given seats in the NRSA. The so-called National Reform Steering Assembly is responsible for drafting the blueprints for national reform and giving out suggestions and recommendations to the National Legislative Assembly, the Cabinet, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), and other relevant agencies. All of its members were appointed by the junta leader.
