A total of six demonstrators were arrested by the police during a demonstration against the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM) at the Horse Statue of Arjuna Wijaya, Monday (5/9/2022).
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin said the six demonstrators were arrested for stopping an official car belonging to a Banten Provincial Government (Pemprov) official while crossing Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. "So they were secured because they stopped vehicles that would pass in the Horse Statue area," said Komarudin when confirmed, Tuesday (6/9/2022). Not only stopping the car, said Komarudin, the six people also climbed into the front of the car with a red plate. "Riding vehicles, so they jump up and down or stand on the vehicle," he said.
According to Komarudin, the six participants in the action are still being questioned by the Jakarta Metro Police investigators. "We are still checking because there are reports," said Komarudin. "The six of them are still being questioned by investigators from the Polda Metro Jaya," he continued. It is known from the video that circulated on social media Instagram @wargajakpus, a group of participants in the action stopped a Toyota Camry Hybrid car that was passing. It is suspected that the car with the police number A-1-R is an official vehicle belonging to the Mayor of Cilegon. In the video, two people can be seen sitting and lying on the hood of the black car. The two people seemed to refuse when asked to get off the front of the car. In addition, the mass of action also pulled the plate of the car.
