A group of drug dealers attacked Rabiul Islam, Uzirpur Correspondent of 'Dainik Naya Digant' newspaper and Joint General Secretary of Uzirpur Upazila and Municipal Press Club in Uzirpur, Barisal.
On Sunday (April 14) night, the upazilas attacked Rabiul on his way from Dhamura Tempu Stand area of Sholak Union to his home Dwattaswar village. Journalist Rabiul Islam filed a written complaint at Uzirpur Model Police Station regarding the attack.
Journalist Rabiul said that Faim Sardar (25), son of UP member Siraj Sardar, was on bail in a drug case and published news against him.
He also said that three people including Faim Sardar were arrested on March 24 by the Barisal District DB Police along with Yaba and filed a case at the Uzirpur Model Police Station. As a journalist, he published news on Daily Naya Digant and Ekushe Sangbad.com news portal. Enraged by this, unknown persons including drug case accused Faim Sardar attacked journalist Rabiul at Dhamura Tempu stand.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uzirpur Model Police Station Md. Zafar Ahmed said that the drug dealers attacked the journalist Rabiul. I received a written complaint at the police station. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
