Sitaram Adhikari is the District Representative of INSEC and a reporter of a local daily online of the district named saheekhabar.com. He has been involved in raising voice against injustice and writing about the contemporary issues of human rights. Adhikari had published news titled ‘Rural Municipality Chief Fled From the Program Venue’ (topic translated in English) after which the local youth club members protested against the chief and intervened in the program. After the news was published, Youth Association Nepal’s Central Member Hemanta Bhandari wrote an insulting post about Adhikari in his social profile and shared it with 30 people and also sent him life threatening messages. The issue was not reported to the police but the Federation of Nepali Journalists and Press Chautari (union of the journalists) released a press statement regarding the incident asking to use official mediums to express their dissatisfaction and not to use social media for character assassination and defamation of the reporters.
