Nepal: 4 students arrested for protesting against the government

Cadres of the Nepal Students Union (NSU) were arrested from the Exhibition Road, Kathmandu on June 8, 2021 for protesting against the government. Those arrested were identified as Sanjeeb Dhakal, 27, Manish Khadka Chhetri, 26, Ramesh Khadka, 31, and Samrat Chhetri, 30.
According to Deepak Bhattarai, General Secretary of the NSU, the cadres have been arrested by the police for protesting against the government’s proposal to reduce the trade deficit by extracting stones, gravel and sand.
Similarly, Chairperson of NSU, Rajiv Dhungana has issued a statement demanding the unconditional release of those arrested cadres.
