  • China: Jiang Tianyong has been tortured

    On 11 May 2017, Jiang Tianyong’s sister went with her father to Beijing to pick up a few items from his brother’s place. But they were stopped by interceptors from Henan shortly after they arrived. They weren’t being allowed into the city. The authority then took Jiang Tianyong’s sister and father back home in their own car, driving through the night. They arrived in Luoshan in Xinyang city, Henan at around 6.00 a.m. the next morning. They have been taken to the Nangan police station for interrogation. They haven’t yet been released.

    On 21 November 2017, A Chinese court sentenced a prominent human rights lawyer to two years in prison for “inciting subversion of state power”, the latest verdict in an intensifying crackdown on rights activists in the Communist nation.
