China: Tibetan Youth Self-Immolates Over China’s Tibet Policies

On 8 December 2018, Drugkho, a Tibetan youth who set himself on fire while chanting Long “Live His Holiness the Dalai Lama! Free Tibet!” as a protest has gone missing. Immediately after his protest took place there was an immediate lockdown in the area, with internet communications blocked. He has not been heard from since.
On August 15, former political prisoner Nguyen An was kidnapped by Vietnam’s authorities. They continue to keep him in secret place without informing his family.

Beginning 1 May 2018, dozens of its activists have been detained across the country, while newspaper columnists have had articles on PTM rejected. Moreover, in the weeks leading up to a protest on 13 May, PTM’s leadership said Rangers and unidentified security officials detained and interrogated more than 100 of its supporters and kept nearly 30 workers in custody.
On April 22 2018, a member of a Pakistani leftist youth organization went missing in Karachi after demonstrating in support of an ethnic rights movement that has worried the country’s security establishment. 8 others have disappeared since this time.

On 13 Feburary 2018, it was learned that Xu Qin, pro-democracy activist, was being held by Chinese authourities fter she supported a number of prominent dissidents and rights lawyers.
